Appeal for Volunteer Drivers

Tuesday 28th January 2020

Angus Carers Centre is seeking to recruit volunteer drivers for its Young Carers' Service.

This is an extremely rewarding opportunity for people who would like to support us by driving young carers to and from activities, giving them a much-needed break from their caring role.

Our young carers are aged from 8 to 18, and we provide weekly activities in the evening after school, at occasional weekends and during the school holidays. The transport is provided using the volunteer’s own car and we provide expenses to cover the costs. Our young carers live all over Angus and we are looking for volunteers that can cover this area.

Volunteers will be supported with training and will require membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG), which is free for volunteers. We have in-depth procedures covering this opportunity, and the safety of our young carers and their drivers is paramount.

We are also looking for volunteers who are able to drive a minibus, and we would be happy if the volunteer minibus drivers were interested in supporting the activities for the young carers. This opportunity can also provide valuable experience and learning in relation to working with young people.

If you are interested in this opportunity, then please contact Jim Dallas, our Volunteer Development Worker, on 01241 439157 or by email at
