Funding Boost for Young Carers Service

Saturday 01st January 2011

Angus Carers Centre is one of 15 organisations, and the only one in Scotland, which has been awarded a grant by The Princess Royal Trust for Carers as part of the third programme of Young Carers Grants funded by Comic Relief. The funds will be used to develop a project, which will help vulnerable and hidden young carers in their area.

The project, which has been awarded £72,500 over three years, will focus on working with young carers who care for a sibling and the challenges of providing that service in a rural area.

The project will be expected to use academically verified measuring tools, which measure results against identified outcomes. These outcome tools were generated in 2008 by the Young Carers International Research and Evaluation Team at the University of Nottingham and from The Trust’s extensive experience of working with the young carers sector for the past 15 years.  These tools are already being used by the wider young carers sector.
