Rob Ogilvy Lounge Opened

Friday 15th November 2013

Thanks to funding from Monifieth and District Rotary Club young carers now have a place to relax and enjoy themselves within the centre with the opening of the Rob Ogilvy Lounge and adjoining rooms.  The late Rob Ogilvy was a founder member of Monifieth Rotary Club and with generous support from Rob’s widow, Jane, and other members of his family funding was donated to the young carers in memory of Rob.

With the club’s funding, some of the young carers had a great day trip to Ikea in Edinburgh where they chose what looks like the most colourful pieces of furniture and furnishings they could find for what is their own special area in the Carers’ Centre.

Robs widow, Jane, along with other Rotary members visited the centre where they met some of the young carers who will use the rooms in the future.  Rotary president, Neil Anderson commented “Monifieth Rotary Club has supported Angus Young Carers  in the past and we are delighted to have been able to help again with the furnishing of this wonderful area for these remarkable young      people.”
