Young carers funding opportunity

Thursday 13th February 2014

We have been made aware of a ‘CREATIVE BREAKS FUND’ currently available for carers of people with serious mental illness and mental health problems. The closing date for these applications is 28th February 2014 – and they must be approved and signed by a young carers worker before submission to Support In Mind Scotland. There will be another opportunity to apply to this fund in April/May 2014.

The types of opportunities which may be applied for include:

  •   A Break away from home either alone or with the person you are caring for
  •   A specific family event
  •   A break for the person you are caring for that gives the carer dedicated time to themselves that they would otherwise not get, and that reduces stress
  •   Part-payment towards a holiday that would otherwise not be able to happen
  •  A short course or programme of activities that helps you to find new ways of coping through developing social and other opportunities
  •   Leisure opportunities that reduce stress and improve mental wellbeing
  •   Family activities that restore a sense of normality for parents and children together where illness makes usual family breaks impossible

Full details of eligibility criteria and how to go about applying to this fund can be found in the download section of our main website at www.anguscarers.org.uk

Please contact a Young Carer Worker if you require any additional information or to arrange for your application to be signed.
