Alton Towers and Blackpool!

On Monday 4th July, a group of 11 young carers got their summer holidays off to an exciting start by heading for 4 fun filled days enjoying the thrills and spills of Alton Towers and the magical sights of Blackpool. Wendy is Leaving :(

Now that you're leaving all your lost boys behind, we are all going to miss rocking out to music in your car and having a good banter with you. You were always brightening our day with your smile and never failed to make us laugh. We speak for all the young carers you've worked with when we say we are going to miss you loads.

During the Easter holidays we ran the Carewise Course over three days. The course gave the young carers who attended the chance to meet other young carers, have fun and learn lots of new things, including, how to cope with any difficult times they may experience whilst caring for family members , and answering questions they may have about their family members’ conditions or illnesses. Read more inside!

On the 12th January we had 10 young carers take part in a First Aid training course run by the Red Cross. The young carers learnt lots of basic first aid skills such as dealing with cuts and blood loss, what to do if someone chokes and even CPR. The young carers had a great time and learnt lots of skills that won’t only help them in their day to day lives as young carers but will be useful in their everyday life. All of those that attended received a certificate for their hard work and commitment in the session. They should be very proud of themselves and each other! We have another First Aid session running in February, we will update you on how the young carers get on. We may be looking to run some other First Aid sessions again later on in the year so keep a look out for information about them in the newsletter.
